Veterinary Technician Assistants are a vital support system to the Veterinarians and Technicians. They are first and last eyes on patients on a daily basis. They are the ones who get to know the patient and can easily pick up on changes in mood, attitude and behavior and alert the medical staff.
Assistants help the day and the team be efficient by assisting in everything from catheter placement, blood draws, radiographs and making sure surgery is always ready to go.
As a Veterinary Technician Assistant at Black Horse Animal Hospital, you will never be under appreciated or under-utilized. Every task a Technician Assistant performs is vitality important even if it seems insignificant.
As the primary care giver for the patients in the hospital their well-being and comfort are in your hands. Clean and dry cages, food and water, petting and attention all contribute to a better hospital experience for the patient.Because the assistants are responsible for keeping the hospital areas clean, stocked and well organized they provide the medical staff the ability to focus on medical decisions and procedures.
You will acquire new and exciting skills as you assist in the day to day operations at BHAH. As you finish your day you will know what a positive impact you have made on your co-workers, patients and pet owners.
Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or Certificate for Veterinary Assistant from an accredited program
Experience:
Some experience preferred but experience with animals and a passion to learn is acceptable
Skills: Once training is complete, you must be capable of:
Properly restraining animals
Follow cleaning protocols
Maintain surgical equipment and operating room
Learn inventory and be able to stock appropriately
Assist in surgical procedures
