With much discussion BHAH has come to the conclusion that we as a practice will not fill on-line pharmacy prescriptions. We have come to this conclusion for many reasons:
1. BHAH is unable to ensure the quality of the prescribed product and its efficacy.
2. Not all on-line pharmacies are licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Particularly the 3 most popular pharmacies do not have licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. These include:
1-800-Pet-Meds
PetCareRx
Dr’s. Foster and Smith
The Pennsylvania Medical Association (PVMA) does not have a law or an act stating that a veterinarian within the state of Pennsylvania has a requirement to abide by a clients request to fill an on-line pharmacy request.
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) also does not have a law or an act stating that a veterinarian has a requirement to abide by a clients request to fill an on-line pharmacy request. The AVMA does state that a veterinarian should honor the request of a client requesting an on-line pharmacy order. It is at the veterinarians own discretion whether or not their practice will honor such a request.
The veterinarian including BHAH has the right to terminate a VCPR (Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship) at any time. By becoming a client here at BHAH you accept these terms of our on-line prescription pharmacy policy. If you choose to terminate your relationship with BHAH due to our stance of on-line pharmacy prescriptions please feel free to do so.
BHAH cares for the health of your pet and we believe by knowing where our products come from ensures that your pet is receiving a safe and quality product.
